Unlocking the Healer Within Preconference

Inside each of us is the desire to heal. We come into this world of form and illusion to have experiences. From those experiences we can hurt or heal. I believe that it is the nature of all living being to seek healing from any hurt to which they cling. As we seek healing of our own hurts, we learn to help others heal. As we help others to heal, we resonate with the healing nature of the Universe and heal ourselves as well.

There is no single path to being a healer. Every life path can be healing. We are each on a unique adventure of discovering how healing moves through our life. We recognize certain paths as healers such as doctor, therapist, herbalist, energy worker. Even among the folks who practice these arts, though, there are non-healers working in these fields. There is also healing in being a teacher, a lawyer, a farmer or any calling. I believe that intention and attention are what make the difference between being a technician of a skill and a healer.

This two day intensive is about building a foundation upon which to establish your personal healing practice. This experience will be heavy on the development and practice of those skills which make us all healers. The most valuable tool of all, intention, will be our starting point as work together to develop awareness and understanding of how intention directions out attention. Then working with this awareness we will experiment with several healing modalities to give you a chance to experience and explore your connection with each form.

This class is an introductory level class. As such, there are no requirements or assumptions of previous experience with healing techniques. The only requirement is that you feel the call to explore healing as a force in your life.

Students are asked to bring mats, blankets and / or pillows for comfort during exchanges. It is recommended that you bring a comfortable sitting surface (back jack, zaffo, folding chair) for discussion periods. Students are also encouraged to bring a drum, if you have one, to use as a healing tool during the class.

I look forward to spending time learning with you.

Whittney Matlock

Presenter:
Whittney Matlock is a professional massage therapist, Pagan priest, healer and educator. His path to the Old Ways began when he was very young and every step has been an exciting journey. After years of exploring his connection to the Gods and Goddesses, in the early nineties he began a journey into the world of BDMS. Discovering the magik in BDSM pushed him deep into the world ecstatic trance, giving him the tools to explore this amazing world of consciousness. All of these experiences have taught him to help others learn to heal through trust, touch and ecstasy.

He has learned his crafts from the bottom up, beginning by following the path of ordeal and coming to discover his personal power through it. Now, a teacher in the BDSM and Pagan communities, he combines his experience of healing, faith and trance work to offer insights into the many ways in which magik manifests itself around us in every aspect of life.

Whittney is a perennial presenter for Black Rose Society and The Crucible, in DC. He explores and teaches about the ordeal path with the members of Kindlers of the Sacred Rhythm. He and his partner are facilitators for a public ordeal rite called SuspenDC. He and his lover are also working on many projects to be of service to their community, their ultimate goal, to create a fall healing retreat, Healing the Spirit, focusing on teaching people through trance to use the healing power inside themselves to change their lives.

Whittney’s classes are not for the faint of heart. He’ll see to it that everyone gets involved. His charm and panache will captivate you, as he pulls you out of your chair and eggs you on to discover what’s inside yourself. Take a chance, risk discovering parts of yourself that you lost track of, or, maybe, even find something in you which you never knew existed.
